Heating PEX has an Oxygen barrier to prevent oxygen permeability. This reduces corrosion and damage to heating system components.

PEX or Cross-linked polyethylene, is a form of polyethylene that has been cross-linked to improve strength, flexibility and thermal performance. There are four ways of performing the cross-linking, Electron Beam (PEX-c), Peroxide/Engel (PEX-a), Saline (PEX-b) or UltraViolet (PEX-d/other). It is formed into tubing, and is used predominantly in domestic water piping, hydronic radiant heating, radiant cooling and snow melting systems.
